Retreats and Workshops

Mount Alvernia Retreat Center offers retreats throughout the year. All faiths are invited to attend. Over 6500 persons retreat to Mt. Alvernia each year. Retreat and workshop subjects include—but are not limited to—healing for the physically ill, spiritual, marriage enrichment, addictions, and abuse. Individuals, couples, and groups may attend the retreats. Children may also attend the healing retreats. The typical retreat lasts for two-and-half days (Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday).

Registration is required to reserve your place. To register, please telephone the Mount Alvernia Retreat Office at (845) 297-5706, ext.12 or send e-mail to mtalverniaretreat@gmail.com. If you have special dietetic needs, you must indicate them when you telephone or include them in your e-mail. (For weekend retreats retreatants are also reminded to sign-in upon arrival at 7PM on Friday evenings.) The center is handicap accessible and includes an elevator for those retreatants who are unable to use the stairs.

If your group is interested in attending a retreat, your group coordinator should contact the Mount Alvernia Retreat Office for registration and accommodation information. Group coordinators must confirm the approximate number of retreatants at least one week prior to the retreat date.

Please contact Mount Alvernia Retreat Office for the latest rate information. Personal checks are accepted; make checks payable to Mt. Alvernia Retreat Center. Mount Alvernia, a non-profit organization, does not deny attendance because of a person’s lack of financial resources. Deposits will be returned if a scheduled retreat is under-subscribed.

One-Day Retreats

Open to all.... Come and spend a Tuesday with the friars and others also seeking to deepen their spirituality. We encounter the Lord in silence, Eucharistic adoration, and communal sharing at Mass. Monthly Retreat Days include a cont. breakfast, lunch, two conferences, quiet time, Reconciliation & Mass.

Our Tuesday Retreat Days all begin at 9 AM and conclude at 3 PM. A $25 offering is appreciated. Phone Registration is required. Please call the Mt. Alvernia Retreat Office at (845) 297-5706, extension 12.

Park in the back of the Retreat Center and enter using the Lower Level ramp door. Registration and refreshments are served in the Dining Room.

Solitude Days

These days are welcome rest from our busy lives and burdensome schedules. Mt. Alvernia provides a quiet setting to "come away" and be spiritually refreshed by the silence.

Any weekday--From 8AM to 3PM--without a schedule to follow--pray, read, journal, rest. Come for a morning or stay the day. You are welcome to enjoy the grounds, chapel, and facilities of the Retreat Center. Bring a bag lunch or make the day one of fasting from food, talking, and noise! Refreshments are provided. Phone Registration is required, free will offering. Please call (845)297-5706, extension 12. Mass at 8AM is optional.

Miscellaneous

Accommodations: Single- and double-occupancy rooms are available. 52 bedrooms are modest in design and each room has a private bath. The entire retreat center has been recently renovated and is air-conditioned. The center is handicap accessible and includes an elevator.

Free parking is available in the back lot.

Retreatants are required to pre-register with a nonrefundable desposit of $25.00 to reserve their places. For information, use the Contact List  to call, fax, or e-mail Mt. Alvernia.

Retreatants need to sign-in upon arrival at 7 PM on Friday evenings. (Departure time is after lunch on Sunday.)

Meals for weekend retreats

Phones in the retreat side of the premises are programmed to handle only local calls.

An elevator is available for those retreatants who are unable to use the stairs.

The gym is no longer available for sports.
